Welcome from the Director

Hello. I’m glad to know that you are thinking enough about Lipscomb to have gotten this far in our website, and I want to wish you well in making your selection of a college. I thought it might help you to know a little bit about who you would work with if you enroll here, so I am including a brief biography.

I have taught at Lipscomb since 1979 in the Department of Communication and have served as director of the Honors Program since 1999. I have published articles in communication and in Biblical ethics, and I am currently the general editor for a book on Tennessee oratory and orators. I help students maximize their educational opportunities at Lipscomb, whether that involves spending a semester studying at Oxford University in England, applying for national competitive scholarships, or simply looking for a good summer internship. In addition, every year I co-lead a spring break trip to work with the Appalachia Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Robbins, Tennessee.
